Abstract

415,386. Driving spinning and doubling frames. HEYWOOD, T., Woodlands, Sheffield Road, Glossop, Derbyshire. Feb. 20, 1933, No. 5127. [Class 120 (ii).] The driving shaft of a spinning and doubling frame is separate from, and coaxial with, the shaft of one of the tin rollers and is geared to the shaft of the other tin roller and to the delivery rollers and the two tin rollers are directly geared together by separate intermeshing toothed wheels. As shown, the driving shaft d is separate from, and coaxial with, the shaft a' of the tin roller a which is directly connected to the tin roller b by the intermeshing toothed wheels c, h ; the shaft d carries fast and loose pulleys e, the roller or twist gear f and a chain wheel g which is connected through the chain k, wheel f and chain l, to a chain wheel i on the shaft b<1> of the tin roller b, the gearing between the shafts d, b<1> being mounted on an adjustable bracket. Instead of chain gearing, spur pinions or V-belts may be used, the drive may be obtained by bringing the chain wheels directly into engagement and when a reverse drive is required, the chain l may be removed and the wheel j arranged to engage the wheel i directly.
