Abstract
348,854. Looms; spinning frames &c. HEALEY, F. J., Britannia Works, Bassein Park Road, Shepherd's Bush, London. April 25, 1930, No. 12839. [Classes 120 (ii) and 142 (i).] In order to compensate for different qualities of cloth woven, or different grades of cotton, wool, jute, silk, &c. used, looms, spinning, frames, and like machines are driven through a variable velocity ratio gearing, for example such as are described in Specifications 212,483 and 331,292, [both in Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable-speed &c.]. As shown, the driving shaft 22 of a loom has a sprocket wheel 23 connected by a chain 24 to the driven sprocket 12 of a variable velocity ratio gearing 8 provided with fast and loose pulleys 14, 4, geared by a belt 3 with a drum 1 on a driving shaft 2. The driving shaft 22 of the loom is provided with the usual toothed gear 25 and brake drum 26, the usual fast and loose pulleys 20a, 21a. interchangeable with those of a different diameter being dispensed with.
