Spindle-driving apparatus.-In order to facilitate reversal of the spindle-driving bands of spinning, doubling, twisting, and like machines tension pulleys D and a cylinder or auxiliary pulleys E are so arranged that their upper peripheral portions are approximately level with the lower flanges of the spindle wharls a, whereby they work equally well in either direction. Each tension pulley D is mounted on a pivoted weighted arm d, so that change in tension due to reversal and variation in length of the driving band can be taken up. The reversing gear is constituted by wheels G, G', G<2> so arranged that the tin roller C can be driven from wheel G either directly through wheel G<1> or indirectly through wheel G<2>. wheels G<1> and G<2> being made slidable for this purpose.
