Ring twisting-frames; spindle and lifting rails; building-motions; thread guides; spindle-driving apparatus; creel arrangements.-In ring twisting- machines, particularly intended for twisting artificial silk, the ring rails are connected to a common frame 23 slidable on guide-bars 24 and coupled by chains 27 to a bar 5 operated by the building-motion and the delivery bobbins 6 are driven by helical gears 14 arranged in a casing 16. The thread guides 21 are carried by the frame 23 so that they remain at a constant distance from the rings. The guide-bars 24 are spaced from the plane in which the spindles are mounted so that broken ends will not be soiled by contact therewith. The spindle-driving shaft is driven by gearing 9 from a shaft 8 which also drives the delivery bobbins through gears 10 and sprocket gear 12. The building-motion comprises an eccentric 18 which oscillates a slide 17 connected by chains 19, 19<1> with the bar 5, the lift being effected by rotating a sheave 32 on the slide, to which the chain is connected, by means of worm gear 31 operated by ratchet-mechanism. The gearing is enclosed in a casing 2 at one end of the machine.
