Abstract

501,455. Roving frames. BRAMBATI, P. Aug. 31, 1937, No. 23851. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1936. [Class 120 (ii)] Roving frames are constructed with two rows of bobbins on each side. The bobbin rails 5 are rockable about shafts 9 to fracilitate doffing and are connected by levers and chain wheels 10, 11 so that they are reciprocated alternately by gears 6, 7. The creel comprises brackets 14 connected by angle bars 15, and the bobbins are arranged in rows, suitable guides being provided to prevent the fouling of the slivers. The rollers are inclined, and the bite of the delivery rollers is arranged midway between the rows of flyers to equalize the length of the roving, an additional roller 21, Fig. 4, being mounted against the bottom roller to give a vertical nip. The rollers are weighted by levers 26, 31 adjustably connected to a weight 28, a longitudinally movable rod 33 being provided with ramps. 34 for engagement with the levers whereby the weight may be relieved. The flyers are driven from a shaft 35 through helicoidal gears 38 enclosed, in a hollow rail, a similar arrangement being adopted for -the bobbins. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also (1) the construction of the flyers which is the subjectmatter of Specification 501,504; (2) conebelt mechanism wherein the belt - shifter 62, Fig. 17 (Cancelled), is moved by a cord 63 from a pulley 61 operated from the " lifting regulator mechanism " through gears provided with a " latch " 60, the arrangement being such that, when the bottom cone is manually raised by means of the shaft 67 the "latch" 60 is disconnected and the belt is returned to the starting position by a weight 72 and cord 63<1> ; (3) the enclosure in the head frame of most of the gearing, including the differential, the ratchet and associated gear, and the lower cone ratchet pinion; and (4) the transmission from the differential through a vertical shaft and a splined gear thereby avoiding irregularity due to the lift. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
