Abstract

356,828. Spinning spindle drag arrangements. BAXTER, -T., 38, Birchwood Place, Dundee. Feb. 27, 1931, No. 16863/30. [Class 120 (ii).] The drag on spinning or twisting bobbins is progressively increased as the bobbins fill by means of eccentric pinions which actuate a sliding bar carrying the ends of the drag bands, the arrangement permitting also of individual adjustment of the drag on each bobbin. At each reversal of the lifting rail, the pawl A, Fig. 2, rotates the ratchet wheel C which carries a pinion D gearing with a gear wheel E. Mounted on the spindle of the gear E is an eccentric pinion F geared with a similar eccentric pinion G, which carries a pinion H in engagement with the rack M of a sliding bar K carrying the ends of the drag bands. As the bobbins fill, the eccentric pinions F, G cause the bar K to move at an increasing rate. The drag bands engage a wharve J on the bobbin carrier, and pass over a notched bar at the front of the machine, whereby the drag on individual bobbins may be adjusted. At the completion of winding, the sliding bar K is returned to its original position by means of the handwheel N. Specification 259,932, [Class 120 (ii), Spinning, twisting, &c.], is referred to.
