[Class 120 (ii).] In a ring frame adapted for spinning mohair, bearded or soft yarns and comprising a ring rail to which a progressive traverse is given and a spindle rail which is slowly lowered as the ring rail rises to allow longer bobbins or tubes to be wound, the spindle rail 15 is supported by screwed pillars 38, 39 lowered by internally threaded gears 40 rotated by gears 42 on a shaft 43 driven from the gearing of the traverse mechanism of the ring rail. The ring rail 14 is carried by pillars 20, 21 suspended by chains 22, 23 from a slide member 24 adjustably secured to a slide 26 associated with a screw or insert 27 on block as indicated which is rotated through gearing 6 by a worm wheel 36 engaging a worm on a main shaft 34. The screw passes through a collar 71 on the end of a lever 28 pivoted at 9 to the ring frame and the lever is displaced to reciprocate the screw and slide 26 by a lever 30 in engagement with a heart-shaped cam 8 on the shaft 34, the rotation of the screw in the collar effecting the progression of the traverse. Guard-plates 50 secured to a fixed plate 51 pass through slots in the ring rail 14 and slits S in the pillars 20, 21 to present continuous surfaces which prevent interference of the balloons with one another.
