Abstract

363,073. Stop motion for delivery rollers of ring and like frames. RUSHTON, H. and RUSHTON, H., Davenport Street Works, Macclesfield, Cheshire. Nov. 5, 1930, No. 33214. [Class 120 (ii).] In a ring spinning or doubling frame of the type in which the feed roller or rollers for each head are mounted with their axes perpendicular to the length of the frame and are driven independently from those of the other heads, the driven feed roller being mounted on a short shaft having dogs or teeth at its driving end to engage with corresponding teeth on a sliding gear wheel, a circumferential groove with an inclined face is formed on the sliding gear wheel and a rod with a tapered end is adapted to be moved into engagement with this face to disconnect the drive. One of the feed rollers A for a head of the machine is carried on a short shaft B journalled in a sleeve carried by a bracket C. The shaft B has dogs or teeth e<1> at its end to engage dogs or teeth d<1> on a gear wheel D. The teeth c<1>, d<1> are sufficiently deep always to remain in engagement. A coiled spring d tends to keep the bevel gear E on the wheel D in engagement with a bevel gear F on the main driving shaft. A circumferential groove d<2> with an inclined face d3 is formed in the wheel D so that vertical movement of the rod G with its tapered end g will cause the bevel gears E, F to become disengaged. The rod G is carried on a vertical rod K the upward movement of which takes place as the result of the breakage of a single thread passing from the creel to the spinning bobbin. Suitable mechanism for the actuation of the rod K is described in Specification 363,072. The short shaft B is preferably mounted in a fibre sleeve so that lubrication is unnecessary. If desired the top feed roller which is not positively driven may be carried in a swivelling bracket A<2> so that it may be swung to one side, or an adjustable bar may be substituted for the non-positively driven feed roller. A pair of friction wheels may be substitued for the bevel gear wheels E, F.
