Abstract

676,442. Winding yarn. SCRAGG, Ltd., S. & E., and SCRAGG, S. Dec. 1, 1950 [Sept. 8, 1949], No. 23235/49. Class 120(ii) In a drum winding machine of the kind in which the thread guide is carried by a bar reciprocated longitudinally to lay the thread by a helical cam secured to a shaft C the shaft C is driven by a roller O which engages between the arms of a fork P secured to the shaft, the roller O being eccentrically mounted on an axle K which is gradually rotated about its axis and carried by a driving wheel E mounted on a sleeve D coaxially with the shaft C. The wheel E drives a compound gear G, H, on a lay-shaft J, the gear H driving a wheel F, loose on the sleeve D, to which is fixed a gear M meshing with a gear L driving the shaft K. Since the wheels F, E differ by, say, one tooth, the shaft K is gradually rotated so that the eccentrically-mounted roller O will gradually increase or decrease the rate of rotation of the shaft C and so break up ribbon winding.
