Abstract

736,425. Winding yarn. LOW & CO., Ltd., J. F., and HILL, T. Nov. 9, 1953 [Nov. 24, 1952], No. 29592/52. Class 120(2). A cop-winding machine, having a winding spindle 2 on which the cops 3 are wound, is provided with an oscillating thread traverse guide 1 whose motion is derived from an eccentric 13 driven by elliptical gear wheels 10, 11 from the driving shaft 4, the relation of the wheels 10, 11 being such that the major axis of the wheel 10 is collinear with the minor axis of the wheel 11 when the guide 1 is at the ends of its traverse, so as to give a quick-return motion at each end of the chase and a minimum speed of traverse mid-way between the ends of the chase. The motion of the eccentric-carrying shaft 12 is transmitted by a strap 131 and linkage 14, 15, 17 to the guide 1.
