Abstract
615,340. Fishing-reels. JANEMIAN, J. A. April 11, 1946. No. 11165. Convention date, July 10, 1945. [Class 48] [Also in Group XXIV] The spool 59 and the flyer-drum 35 are driven from a crown wheel 8 to rotate at different speeds in opposite directions, and the flyer 48 is reciprocated by an inclined cam groove 47 in a fixed part 39. A pinion 9 meshing with the crown wheel drives the spool shaft 11 through the intermediary of a friction coupling which is adjustable by a nut 20. Toothed members 27, 28 respectively connected to the pinion and the shaft produce sound when slip occurs at the coupling. The flyer drum is driven from the crown wheel by a pinion 33. An arm on the flyer engages a spring- loaded segment 55 arranged in the cam groove so that rotation of the spool for reeling-in sets the flyer and reverse movement returns it to the inoperative position. The flyer is shaped to permit the use of two different sized spools.
