Abstract

534,365. Spindle-driving arrangements for spinning &c. machines. AKT.-GES. J. J. RIETER & CIE. Feb. 7, 1940, No. 2357. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1939. [Class 120 (ii)] The tin roller driving the spindle cords or bands is provided with grooves for accommodating the runs of the cords &c. which do not lap the roller and pass across the frame from the spindle on one side of the machine to the spindle on the other side ; by this means the runs do not contact with the roller which can be arranged with its upper surface in a plane passing centrally through the driving wheels of the spindles. As shown, the spindles are driven by bands 1 and the runs which do not lap the tin roller 3 and which run edgewise from one side of the frame to the other are accommodated in grooves 4 in the roller ; the roller may be made of sheet metal with the grooves stamped therein to stiffen it. The band may be tensioned by a roller carried by a weighted lever and engaging a loop of the band below the roller and when it is desired to reverse the direction of rotation of the spindles it is only necessary to reverse the direction of rotation of the tin roller and move the tensioning rollers from the position I to the position II.
