Abstract

951,622. Driving spindles. SKF KUGELLAGERFABRIKEN G.m.b.H. June 16, 1960 [Jan. 5, 1960], No.21172/60. Heading D1D. Driving mechanism for each spindle 4 in a spinning or doubling frame in which drive members 8 are mounted in a Common shaft 9, comprises a belt 6 which passes about the spindle wharve 5 and an intermediate roller 7 or 16, the intermediate roller being urged towards driving member 8 so that the tape 6 is driven directly or indirectly thereby. In Fig. 1 intermediate roller 7 presses belt 6 into direct driven contact with driving member 8 whereas in Fig. 5 the intermediate roller 16 has raised flanges 16<SP>1</SP> driven by the member 8 so that the belt is indirectly driven. In a further form, Fig.7, the intermediate roller 19 is mounted so as to press against the vertical face of its driving member 8. A variety of means for biasing the intermediate rollers is described both to urge the intermediate rollers towards the driving members and to tension the driven belts; stops may also be provided to limited the movement of the intermediate rollers if, e.g. the driving belts should break. A single belt may be used to drive more than one spindle. Brake means for the spindles may be provided.
