Driving-arrangements; tin rollers.-In a ring spinning, doubling, or like frame, the tin rollers are driven directly at the higher speed, and through chain gearing at the lower speed, while forming the cop bottom. On the tin roller shaft 6, Fig. 1. are mounted a fast pulley 12 and a loose pulley 10 on the sleeve 9 of which is secured a chain wheel 11, while a second equal shaft 13, which may be the second tin roller shaft, is mounted parallel thereto. The shafts 6, 13 rotate in opposite directions, and are connected at each end by the sets of chain gearing 11, 15, 16 and 24, 25, 26. The slower drive is from the pulley 10, through the reducing gearing 11, 15, 16 to the shaft 13, and thence through the chain gearing 24, 25, 26 to the tin roller 7. The higher speed is obtained in driving the shaft 6 from the pulley 12 and the shaft 13 through the gearing 24, 25, 26. In a machine having only one tin roller 7, the shaft 13 will not be driven oppositely thereto. An adjusting wheel 19 and dashpot 23, Fig. 2, are provided for each set of chain gearing.
