Abstract

257,987. Dover, W. H. June 6, 1925. Driving-arrangements.- In a driving-mechanism for spinning and like machines, the bearings 10, 13 of the shafts 4, 9 are adjustably mounted on a slotted bracket A<1> fixed to the framework A near the outer end of the driving shaft 4 and outside the pulleys 2, 5. The driving pulley 2 is fixed on a sleeve 3 loose on the shaft 4, a driving wheel 7 being also fixed on the sleeve 3 and arranged to drive the shaft 4 through the wheels 8, 11, 12. The wheels 11, 12 are detachable and may be changed to vary the speed, while the wheels 7, 8 may also be changed and if necessary, the position of the shaft 9 relative to the shaft 4 altered to accommodate the different wheels. Alternatively, the sleeve 3 may be omitted. The Provisional Specification describes a further modification in which the pulley shaft is in alignment with the shaft of the cylinder 6, but is independent thereof.
