Abstract

171,138. Waite, W. H., Worsnop, J. W., Priestley, E., and Robinson, N. H. July 8, 1920. Spindle-driving apparatus; spindle apparatus.- Relates to driving-mechanism for the tubes of cap spinning, doubling, twisting and like frames of the kind wherein friction driving-cones engage cones fixed on the tubes. Coned discs 9 drive pulleys 4 on the tubes and are splined on shafts 8 mounted in bearings 11, 12 behind the spindles. The pulleys 4 are provided with a cavity d, Fig. 4, closed by a spring-pressed valve f for lubricant for the spindle and tube. In the Provisional Specification it is stated that the invention is applicable to the spindles of ring and flyer frames.
