Abstract

22,058. Gibson, W. Sept. 28. Winding-on motions.-Relates to differential gearing for flyer frames, such as slubbing, intermediate, roving, and jack frames, used in the preparation of flax &c. for spinning, of the type in which an eccentric such as k carries a member such as with external teeth and internal teeth gearing with internal and external rings of teeth such as d and p, respectively. Such gearing has been used in such a way that as the speed of the variablespeed cones is reduced, the bobbins slow down as they become filled, which is the desired result in cotton frames. The invention comprises a gear suitable for use with flax frames in which the flyers lead upon the bobbins and in which the speed of the bobbins must increase as the said bobbins are filled. The internal ring d is carried by a disk b keyed to a shaft a which is driven at constant speed. The member l has its external ring of teeth m meshing with the ring d and its internal ring n meshing with the gear p, which is connected by a sleeve o to a gear q. The member l is carried loosely on the eccentric k, which is connected by a sleeve f to a gear g. A balancing-mass s is secured to the eccentric k. The gear g is driven from the cones in the same direction as the shaft a. The gear q drives the bobbins. As the gear g slows down, the epicyclic gearing operates to drive the gear q faster.
