414,488. Thermionic cathodes. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. May 31, 1933, No. 15757. Convention date, May 31, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] A cathode suitable for use in gas-filled tubes such as rectifiers comprises a cylindrical insulating body, a metallic strip of flat ribbon form wound helically on the body with the flat side in contact with it and a layer of electron emitting material deposited on the body and ribbon, means being provided for passing the heating current through the strip. The strip, which may be of nickel, is preferably wound on with the turns very slightly separated. The insulating body is preferably hollow.
