Abstract

413,287. Motors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, TURNER, H. C., and SHERWIN, A., Peel Works, Silk Street, Salford, Lancashire. Dec. 9, 1932, No. 34978. [Class 35.] Motors with unwound iron armatures of the synchronous type in which the rotor is furnished with a tubular member surrounded by a corresponding portion of the stator so that the flux passes radially between them. The stator comprises laminated poles 1, an outer tube 2, a separate end plate 4, and a tubular extension 11 surrounding the tubular member 8 of the rotor and slit to diminish eddy-currents. The laminated rotor 6 is loose on the shaft 5 and fits frictionally into the tubular member 8. The shaft 5 carries a fly-wheel 13 and is resiliently connected to the rotor by a helical spring 10, one end of which enters a hole in the shaft and the other a hole in a collar 9 secured to the member 8.
