Abstract

412,389. Automatic regulation. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Rankin, W. K. ; 267, Highland Avenue, Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) May 9, 1933, No. 13487. Convention date, May 11, 1932. [Class 38 (iv).] An automatic voltage-regulating arrangement comprises a pair of opposed windings, e.g. on a transformer, or field windings 3, 4 on a generator 1, for controlling the effective voltage of a variable voltage source, and a resistance material 5 of the type described in Specification 292,110, [Class 38 (iv)], whose electrical resistance decreases substantially instantaneously with increase in applied voltage, connected in series with one of the windings 4. The bucking winding 4 in series with the resistance 5 may be arranged on the field poles of the generator 1, or in the case of regulation of a transformer, on the same core as the primary winding so as to keep the flux in the core constant irrespective of voltage variations on the primary. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 370,881, 371,578, 385,115, and 399,467.
