416,873. Automatic electromagnetic regulators. C. A. V.-BOSCH, Ltd., GLASER, W. H., and WOOD, N. R., Warple Way, Acton, London. March 24, 1933, No. 8932. [Class 38 (iv).] A dynamo a is provided with two shunt field windings b, c and a series winding d each shunt winding being controlled by a separate regulator k, k provided with a series coil l, a shunt coil m, an opposing or bucking coil n and a compensating coil s, the contacts p of each regulator being arranged to insert or remove a resistance q in the circuit of the corresponding field winding and at the same time energize or de-energize the bucking winding n. The compensating coils s are connected in series, are arranged to have opposite effects on their regulators and are connected across the ends of the field windings b, c so that they are energized by the difference in the potential across these windings and thus ensure fair division of the regulating action between the regulators. A resistance t may be connected between the junction of the two windings s and one terminal of the generator. The compensating windings s may also perform the functions of the bucking windings n if they are wound oppositely to one another and to their respective shunt windings m, their end terminals being connected to the fixed contacts p of their respective regulator contacts as shown in the Figure and their junction point through a common regulating resistance q, which replaces resistances q, q and is connected, as is the resistance t, to one side of the generator. Resistances r prevent sparking.
