Abstract

409,651. Automatic regulation. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Nickle, C. A. ; 1771, Randolph Road, Schenectady, New York, U.S.A.) July 28, 1932, No. 21350. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 30, 1932]. [Class 38 (iv).] An asymmetric conductor is provided for reducing the effective inductance of a winding controlled by a vibratory contact regulator, and when used for dynamo-electric machine field control, may be adapted to maintain the rate of build-up and decay of field current substantially equal. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a half-wave rectifier 12, which may be of the copper oxide type, is connected in parallel with the field winding 5 of an exciter 4, but it may be connected in parallel with part only of the winding. Alternatively, a resistance may be connected in series with the rectifier and this resistance may be of such material that it decreases in value with increase in applied voltage. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the rectifier is inductively coupled with winding 5 by means of a winding 15 inductively related therewith. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6, a part of the resistance 6 controlled by the regulator is in circuit with rectifier 12. Specification 292,110, [Class 38 (iv)], is referred to.
