[Class 38 (iv).] An automatic regulator controlling resistance in the field circuit of an exciter to maintain a given electrical condition of a dynamo-electric machine, for instance the voltage, in a predetermined state has means 16 responsive to the field voltage opposing the action of the regulating means 15 and a yielding connection having a time-delayed action, for example a dashpot 18, between the regulating means and the opposing means.
