Abstract
410,420. Ignition timing. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R., 4, Militõrstrasse, Stuttgart, Germany. Nov. 24, 1933, No. 32843. Convention date, Dec. 3, 1932. [Class 7 (iv).] The time of ignition is adjusted by a centrifugal governor the connection of which to the interrupter cam is varied by means dependent on a second engine variable such as the induction-pipe suction, the position of the throttle valve, the oil pressure or cooling water temperature. One end of a pin 7 by which the centrifugally-acting mass 4 is connected to the cam-mounting 9 is secured in a plate 10 slidable between the back of the baseplate 1 and a restraining member 11. A link 12 is pivoted to the plate and to a sleeve 13 engaged by a bell-crank 24 connected to the piston 16. The space behind the piston is in communication with the induction-pipe 17. Alternatively the crank 24 may be linked to the throttle pedal through a lost motion device The centrifugal governor may be separate from the interrupter unit.
