Abstract

408,269. Valve amplifying circuits. ELECTRICAL & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Blyth Road, Hayes, Middlesex, and COOPER, A. H., Appledore, Syke Ings, Iver, Buckinghamshire. Oct. 4, 1932, No. 27590. [Class 40 (v).] A push-pull combination 1, 2 is combined with means such as a diode rectifier 10, so that as the input signal voltage increases the applied grid-bias is automatically brought nearer the lower bend of the characteristic curve, so that as the input rises the combination automatically changes from class A to class B amplification. The output voltage is applied through a condenser 8 and a resistance 17 to the diode 10, and the resulting voltage across a resistance 12 is applied to the grids of the two amplifiers. The derived voltage may be restricted to the desired value by means of a rectifier associated with a second resistance 13, the voltage across which is applied across the grid and cathode of both valves in such a sense that as the input energy rises the grid-bias is increased. In Fig. 2 a second diode 21 serves to limit the variation in the biassing potential applied to the push-pull valves.
