Abstract

499,538. Valve amplifying circuits. RADIOAKT.-GES. D. S. LOEWE. Dec. 15, 1937, No. 34741. Convention date, Dec. 16, 1936. [Class 40 (v)] Rectified reaction is used to bias the grid of a valve used in a television amplifier to prevent the grid swinging positive on peak loads. As shown in Fig. 2, the additional bias is supplied through rectifier 6 from a tapping on potentiometer 7, the tapping being normally arranged so that the voltage tapped off is 1/V of the output, where V is the amplification factor of the valve. The invention can be applied to a receiver circuit as shown in Fig. 3. With such an arrangement, the normal D.C. coupling between detector 11 and output stage 10 is replaced by condenser 2 and leak resistance 3, the high plate current required by valve 11 being fed through resistance 13. The rectifier 6, potentiometer 7 and condenser 9 are supplied as in Fig. 2. Synchronizing pulses are supplied either to the grid circuit over transformers 16a, 17a or to the plate circuit over transformers 16 and 17 and rectifier 14, the rectifier 14 being suitably biassed by potentiometers 15. Rectifiers 6, 14 may be housed in a single bulb to form a double diode.
