[Class 40 (v).] A pentode valve used as a detector or amplifier has a high resistance 5 preferably more than a megohm in its anode circuit for coupling it to an output valve. Screen-grid voltage is preferably obtained from the anode supply source 8 through a high resistance 6, and a condenser 7 connects the screen grid 3 to the cathode. The interception grid 9 is directly connected to the cathode.
