Thermionic amplifiers and detectors.- Ir a thermionic amplifier or detector the input is arranged to vary the potential of the cathode and the grid is earthed to avoid inherent reaction between the input and output circuits. Fig. 1 shows a transmitter fed from a generator 1 having the output circuit tuned by a condenser 12 in which the cathode heating current is supplied through a bi-filar winding 9 forming the secondary of the input transformer. Fig. 2 shows the application to a receiver employing amplifying valves 16 and a detecting valve 18. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a transmitter using a valve with a liquid-cooled anode and having the grid connection through the usual grid-leak device. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
