Abstract

406,426. Windscreen-cleaners. WESTMORELAND, A. G., 6, Sherbourne Road, Acocks Green, Birmingham. Nov. 5, 1932, No. 31234. [Class 138 (i).] A windscreen-cleaner comprises a member 7 adapted to be attached to the rock shaft 6 of the wiper-operating mechanism, a member 9 pivotally connected to the member 7, a wiper-carrier 10 pivotally connected to the member 9, and spring means acting on the carrier for the purpose of pressing the wiper against the windscreen. In the construction shown, the rock shaft is secured by a screw 8 in a slot formed in the upper end of the member 7. The member 9 is provided with a screw-threaded rod 11 the lower end of which has a slidable plunger 14 spring-pressed against the upper end of the carrier 10. A rotatably-mounted nut 12 engaging the rod 11 is adapted to adjust the pressure of the spring 13. The lower end of the carrier 10 has pivotally-mounted thereon the holder for the wiper, so that the spring 13 acts to press the wiper against the wind screen. The movement of the wiper towards the screen is limited by means of a stop screw 15. A catch plate 16 pivotally mounted on the member 7 normally maintains the member 9 in position suitable for operation of the wiper, but may be swung aside to permit withdrawal of the member 9 and wiper away from the screen.
