Abstract

376,120. Printing-machines. ADREMA MASCHINENBAUGES, 62, Alt Moabit, Berlin. Oct. 16, 1931, No. 28860. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1930. [Class 100 (ii).] Addressing-machines ; tripping-arrangements. -A hand-operated addressing-machine of the kind comprising a pivoted platen arm is provided with a skipping-device consisting of a non-circular pin adjustable by hand into a position where it engages a stop on the machine base and prevents complete downward movement of the platen. The intermittent advance of a listing strip is interrupted also. As shown, the full descent of a platen arm 3 rocking about a pivot 10 is prevented by pressing a knob 20 on the end of a rod 18 connected through a lever 17 to a gear segment 15 adapted to rotate a gear 14 fixed to a flat-sided bolt 11 into a position where the round part engages an abutment 12 on the machine frame 1. In a modification, the segment 15 has a forked end engaging an eccentric pin on a disc fixed to the shaft 11. Normally, a nose 23 on the gear 14 engages a pivoted member 22 to which are connected rods 26, 28 actuating ink-ribbon mechanism (not described) and a list-feed respectively ; when the gear 14 is rotated as above, the nose 23 moves into an inoperative position. The rod 28 detachably engages a pin 43 on the member 22 and is retained in position by a slotted sleeve slidable along the rod into a groove on the pin. The forward end of a list-sheet is gripped by a clamp 47 fixed to a bar 44 adjustably secured by a screw 52 to a carriage 31 mounted on a channel bar 29. The carriage 31 is advanced one line space at each upstroke of the arm 3 by a rack 35 reciprocated by a gear segment 41 connected to the'rod 28 ; a pawl 40 on the carriage engages ratchet teeth on the rack. The movement of the carriage is braked by an internal spring engaging an inner surface of the bar 29. Pins engaging grooves in the rack prevent upward movement thereof, one of the pins being depressible to allow the rack to be inserted. The sheet is supported by a metal plate or grid welded to a bent wire one end of which.is inserted in an aperture in a projection on the bar 29 and the other in a slot in an address-plate delivery box 7.
