[Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii).] In a price-label printing- machine the strip of labels w, Figs. 1 and 5, is guided by being pressed against the front wall n of the machine by rollers a, the upper edge of the strip engaging an adjustable guide bar i and its lower edge, bearing the staples or threads, being freely suspended. The strip is fed by a comb c having teeth c<1> to engage notches between the labels and carried by a slide d reciprocated horizontally by an arm d<1> and a cam h, Fig. 4, on a manually rotated shaft o<1>. The comb c is carried by a plunger v mounted in the slide d, and is raised to engage the strip by a spring v<1> on the plunger, and depressed clear of the strip at the end of the feeding movement by the engagement with a part u of the plunger of the end e<11> of a lever actuated by a compound cam g, g<1> on the shaft o<1>. This cam consists of two segmental discs angularly adjustable relatively to each other to vary the effective length of their periphery so as to vary the feed stroke of the comb in accordance with the size of the labels. The comb c is removably secured to the plunger so that it may be replaced by one having teeth of different pitch. The slide d also carries an ink-pad q for inking the type carried by a type holder b. This holder is carried by an arm b<1>, Fig. 5, actuated by a cam k<1> on the shaft o<1>. The high portion k of the cam k<1> moves the holder b into contact with the pad q at the end of the feed stroke of the slide d. The holder then moves back until the pad q has been withdrawn and a second high part m on the cam k<1> then moves the holder forward to print the strip and to sever the leading label by a knife r, Fig. 1, actuated by a connection from the holder b. If the strip is provided with threads, they may be hung over a bar t so as to be clear of the comb c. The rollers a are carried by spring bows a<11> and the guide bar i is adjustable by a socket i<11> and set screw i<1>.
