Abstract

406,004. Cores for dynamo - electric machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and ORSETTICH, R., c/o General Electric Co., Witton, Birmingham. June 13, 1932, No. 16679. [Class 35.] A laminated core and the frame or other core-supporting means are formed as separate units and are secured together, after their relative positions have been adjusted, by welding projections or shoulders on the core end plates and/or laminations to the core-supporting means directly or to one or more intermediate members welded to the core-supporting means, the said projections or shoulders being integral with or welded to the laminations and/or core end plates. In the form shown, the frame comprises a pair of rings 1 united by axial ribs 2 to which the projections 6 on the laminµ 4 or intermediate filling pieces welded thereto are welded. As an alternative to projections on the laminµ, there may be recesses in their peripheries into which the bars 2 extend and are welded, or which may contain bars welded to the laminµ and to the bars 2. As a further alternative, axial bars may be welded to the unrecessed core surface and to the bars 2, whilst in any of the modifications the members may be welded to the core end rings in addition to or instead of to the laminµ. According to the Provisional Specification, in machines of considerable length, the axial frame ribs may be welded to the core end rings and to intermediate plates placed between packets of laminµ.
