[Class 35] A stator core 12 is secured within its casing 10 by means of wedges 26 inserted between the casing and a number of bars 22 fixed, e.g. by welding, to the outer surface of the core substantially parallel to its axis. The casing may be cast or may comprise a pair or more rings as shown, and after alignment by means of the wedges, the bars 22 can be welded to the casing.
