Abstract
619,485. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. (General Electric Co.). Feb. 25, 1944, No. 3562. [Class 35] A metal cylinder disposed between the stator core and the rotor has metal fins extending into the core to facilitate the transfer of heat from the laminae to the cylinder. These fins may be transverse to the cylinder axis as at 21 in Fig. 2 or axially disposed and extending into the seat mouths as at 23, Fig. 4. Alternatively, there may be transverse as well as axial fins and they may be formed as corrugations on the cylinder 30 or be formed by bars or rings welded to a smooth cylinder which preferably is of high resistance metal, and extended to the end covers of the machine to form a fluid-tight enclosure for the stator windings.
