Abstract

898,249. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 28, 1960 [Aug. 13, 1959], No. 27720/59. Class 35. The stator end windings 7 of a dynamo-electric machine have electrically conducting shields 12, 13, e.g. of copper, arranged close to but insulated from them, to provide eddy current dampers to suppress leakage flux. The shields are provided with cooling ducts and may be solid, with cooling duets brazed on to the surface, or formed of bars, which may be hollow to allow coolant to pass through them. Shields 12, 13 are of frusto-conical form.
