Abstract

21,761. British Thomson-Houston Co., [General Electric Co.]. Sept. 24. Cores, yokes, and carcase structures; exciting. -Dynamo-electric machines, particularly of the direct-current type, provided with compensating-windings to neutralize the armature reaction, have definite field poles 2 and intermediate teeth 3, 3<1> forming slots 4. The field windings are in a number of parts 5 spanning the pole 2 and contained in the slots 4. The compensating-windings span the spaces between adjacent poles, and are in a number of parts 6 also contained in the slots 4. Preferably, each part of the compensating-winding spans the middle tooth 3. The teeth 3<1> may be separately formed and keyed in place as shown.
