Abstract

105,942. Chitty, H. March 31, 1916. Pole-pieces.-In multipolar dynamo-electric machines, the field magnet poles 1 are arranged in pairs united by short yokes 5 and formed with ventilating passages extending outwardly from the pole faces in planes at right-angles to the armature axis and communicating with transverse channels 3 formed at the outer side of the poles. The transverse channels are formed between the pole and the coil by sloping off the side of the pole leaving projecting portions at the ends to support the coil.
