Abstract
405,591. Induction motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Morrill, W. J. ; 2537, Maple Place, Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A.) Oct. 7, 1933, No. 27680. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1932. [Class 35.] The auxiliary primary winding of a single phase induction motor with a condenser in series therewith is connected in parallel with the main winding for starting but is disconnected to form a tertiary circuit for normal operation or only part of the auxiliary winding may be included in the tertiary circuit. As shown the switch 16 is in the starting position but when the motor reaches a predetermined speed the contact 15 is engaged and the condenser 13 is connected in parallel with part or all of the auxiliary winding 12 which is then inductively linked with the main winding 10 through the squirrel cage secondary 17.
