Abstract
428,876. Induction motors. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and MAGGS, A. H., 14, Oval Road, Hillmorton Paddox, Rugby. Dec. 1, 1933, No. 33835. [Class 35] A single-phase alternating- current motor employing a condenser for starting purposes has a main winding 1 with a tapping at an intermediate point 3 and an auxiliary winding 6, one end 5 of the main winding being connected to an auxiliary circuit containing a condenser 7 and the auxiliary winding 6, the other end of the auxiliary circuit being connected to the remote end 10 of the main winding at starting so that full line voltage is applied to it, and connected to the tapping 3 on the main winding for continuous operation. The change of connections is effected by a switch 8. The tapping 3 need not be at the centre of the main winding. The main winding may be divided as described in Specification 428,865.
