359,787. Induction machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Assignees of Morrill, W. J. ; 2317, South Wayne Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A.) Dec. 10, 1930, No. 37290. Convention date, Dec. 12. [Class 35.] In a split-phase motor, an external inductance 14 is connected in series with the running winding 11. and is cut out by a speedresponsive switch for normal speed operation. The same switch may open the circuit of the high resistance auxiliary winding 12. A condenser 17 may be included in the circuit of the auxiliary winding, which is not then opened, and the capacity effect may be reduced during normal operation by means of an autotransformer 18 which has its tappings changed by the switch 15. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of an inductance incorporated in the main winding, and of switches of the electromagnetic type. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
