Abstract

405,544. Brakes applied by running wheel. MOHRING, L., 49, Rue d'Amourah, Algiers. July 6, 1933, No. 19134. Convention date, July 12, 1932. [Class 103 (i).] In a servo-brake of the kind in which the main brake is applied by the angular movement of an auxiliary brake member effected by the friction on that member, the auxiliary brake comprises a brake band 20 adapted to be applied to a drum 21 and having its end parts connected by a chain 19 running over a sprocket on the spindle 7 of the cam 5 by which the shoes 2 of the main brake are expanded to engage an outer concentric drum. The ends 13 of a pair of arms 12 pivoted at 10 are caused to bear upon the chain 19 to tighten the brake band 20 on the drum 21 and for this purpose a cable 16 is attached to one of the arms and passes around a pulley 17 on the other arm and is secured to a segment 9 mounted freely on the cam spindle 7. The segment 9 is turned to apply the brake by an arm 8.
