Abstract
401,822. Cycle brake-levers. SWALES, E. W. and RUDGE-WHITWORTH, Ltd., Crow Lane, Coventry. July 25, 1932, No. 20994. [Class 136 (i).] In a cycle brake-lever assembly for use with a flexible cable, an attachment member (e.g. a nut) for securing the assembly to a handle-bar &c. is adapted also to form an abutment for locating a flexible cable. The assembly comprises a strap 2 and a clip member 3 engaging the handle-bar 1 and secured thereto by a bolt 4 and a nut 5, which is slotted for the passage of the inner wire 9 of the cable 7 and is recessed to receive the ferrule 8 of the outer sleeve of the cable. The strap 2 is formed from strip material folded upon itself to provide a double thickness and wrapped around wires 10 to form beaded edges, which are engaged with slots in the head of the bolt 4. The clip member 3 is provided with lugs 18 to which the lever 6 is pivoted at 35. The inner end of the lever 6 is slotted to receive the wire 9, and is provided with a transverse hole to receive laterally a disc 28 on the end of the wire, the wire being passed through an opening 33 on one side of the lever and then turned through 90‹ into the slot in the lever.
