[Class 136 (i)] In a brake-operating lever of the inverted type for cycles &c. the part of the lever to which the wire or rod transmission is attached extends beyond the outer circumference of the handle-bar, so that the wire or rod transmission is exterior to the handle-bar. A split sleeve b, adapted to be clamped in the end of the handle-bar a by means of a conical plug h and a screw i, is provided with lugs j to carry a pivot pin c for the lever d, which extends diametrally across the end of the handle-bar and is bored and slotted for the attachment of the end pin k of a Bowden wire l. The casing q of the Bowden wire abuts against a forked radial lug g on a disc f, the lug g and another radial lug g' on the disc f engaging slots in the sleeve b. The Bowden transmission q passes along a groove p extending through a rubber &c., hand-grip o.
