[Class 80 (iii)] [See also Group XXXI] In Bowden mechanism fitted in a cycle handle-bar and adapted to actuate a brake &c., the outer casing of the Bowden cable is adjusted for wear of the parts, stretching of the wire &c. by means accessible from the outside and comprising a casing 1 in which is mounted an inner sleeve 2, which is adapted to be rotated by an external hand wheel 4 &c. and is in screwthreaded engagement with an outer sleeve 3 abutting against the Bowden casing 7 and longitudinally slidable in the casing 1, rotation being prevented by the engagement of a projection 5 with a slot 6. The Bowden cable 8 passes through the sleeves 2, 3 and is connected to a hand-lever 9 pivoted at 10 to a projection 11 on the casing 1. The sleeves are retained in the adjusted position by a spring-ring 12, which is secured in the casing 1 and has inwardly-bent lugs engaging flats on the sleeve 2.
