Abstract

167,721. Rout, J. W. G., and Rout, A. J. Jan. 13, 1921. Handles.-Handle grips, particularly those of bicycles and the brake and gear levers of motorcars, are made of wound spring wire a, the end convolutions of which have a natural internal diameter slightly smaller than the external diameter of the bar or lever to which the grip is to be applied. The wire is wound on to a former with the end convolutions tight and the middle convolutions loose, and when the former has been withdrawn, the grip so formed is forced on to the handle-bar or the like and retains its position thereon without the aid of screws, flanges, caps, &c. As shown, the outer end of the grip is closed by a plug b. Specifications 1810/84 and 26904/96 are referred to.
