Abstract

624,048. Cycle pedals. CARTER, W. A. C. May 2, 1947, No. 11886. [Class 136 (iii)] A cycle pedal comprises a spindle having bearings arranged to be assembled at either end and a body portion arranged to be applied longitudinally to the assembled spindle so as to fit over the bearings and provided with means for tightening to grip the bearings and when slackened off the body can be drawn longitudinally off the spindle. As shown in Figs. 1. and 2 the pedal has a spindle A with bearings F and G at either end and a body portion D which is in two halves secured together by screws E and having a channel section D<SP>1</SP> slidably fitting over the spindle and bearings. The spindle is ground at A3 and A<SP>5</SP> to co-operate with the bearings F and G. A cap J covers the outer end which has an annular groove A<SP>6</SP> surrounded by circlips H to maintain the end bearing in position. Pins Jl may secure the cap in position. In an alternate form the pedal is die-cast in one piece having a channel' section split at the ends and screwed together to secure on the spindle. Side flanges are provided on the pedal which may be covered with rubber treads K.
