Abstract

582,379. Cycle locks. BENTLEY, A. H. Sept. 28, 1944, No. 18579. [Class 79 (iii)] A lock for a cycle brake has a barrel co-axial . with the fulcrum of the handle bar lever and includes a bolt member adapted to be moved axially to enter a recess in this lever and thereby lock the brake in "on" position. As shown, a hand-actuated lever 4 connected to a Bowden wire brake cable 5 is pivoted to a bracket 2 secured to the handle bar 1 of a bicycle. The barrel of a lock is inserted in the aperture formed by the bracket 2 and spaced side pieces 7 of the lever 4, one of side pieces having a aperture 9 formed with an abutment 10 against which the bolt 12 of the lock may engage to retain the brake in the full " on " position.
