Abstract

759,300. Detachable wheel mountings. JAMES MOTOR CYCLES, Ltd., [formerly JAMES CYCLE CO., Ltd.]. March 3, 1955 [March 31, 1954], No. 9380/54. Classes 136 (1) and 136 (2). In a wheel mounting each fork end 10 is provided with an aperture 11 adapted to receive the threaded spindle end 12 and its associated sleeve nut 14, each fork end being provided with an opening 15 disposed transversely of the aperture 11 and cutting into the aperture, the opening being adapted to receive a cotter pin 16, the cotter pin being adapted to engage the sleeve nut 14, means being provided for displacing the cotter pin so as to lock the sleeve nut in the aperture. A draw bolt 18 is mounted in one end of the cotter pin 16 to displace the cotter pin axially. A recess 17 is formed in the cotter pin for positive engagement with the sleeve nut 14. The cotter pin 16 may be united with a mudguard stay 20 (Fig. 2) so that the cotter pin locks the sleeve nut 14 and the mudguard in position.
