[Also in Division F2] A hinge for mounting a chain-shifting arrangement in a change-speed gear for a bicycle (see Division F2) comprises a bolt 30, Fig. 8, locked to a bracket 1 fast on the frame of the bicycle and formed with a frusto-conical bearing surface 30<SP>1</SP>, a threaded end 30<SP>4</SP> of the bolt mounting a nut 31 formed with an oppositely directed frusto-conical bearing surface, arms 3<SP>4</SP>, 3<SP>5</SP> of a support 3 turning about the bearing surfaces and a spring 10 fast at one end with the bolt and engaging a notch in the support 3 biasing the latter in one direction. To take-up wear in the bearing surfaces, the nut 31 is screwed along the bolt, and then locked in position by a knurled nut 33 coacting with a washer 32 having a projection engaging a notch in the end of the bolt. A plastic cover 34 surrounds the spring 10, &c. In a modified form, Fig. 10, a nut 35 screwed on the end of the bolt and formed with a frusto-conical bearing surface is locked in position by a nut 36<SP>1</SP>. In another modification, a nut 37, Fig. 12, on the end of a bolt 38, is formed with a frusto-conical bearing surface, and the end of the bolt is formed with diametral slots so that the bolt threads can be expanded into locking engagement with the nut by turning a screw 39 having a frusto-conical head 39<SP>1</SP>.
