[Class 79 (iii)] A bicycle lock for locking a reversible handle bar in a vertical position after rotation through 90 degrees comprises a bracket fast with the steering stem and having a forwardly projecting portion enclosing a space in which the handle bar can be locked after rotation into the vertical position. Fig. 5 shows the handlebar in normal position and Fig. 6 shows it turned and locked in space 8 of the bracket by a latch 7. The bracket 1, Fig. 1, carrying lamp bracket 5, embraces the steering stem in space 2 and is secured thereto by nut and bolt 3, 4. The latch 7 slides in the housing 6 to open the space 8 for reception of the handlebar, after which the latch is returned to the position shown and locked by means of a turn-key 12 whose end is shaped to engage the screw plug 10 which is screwed into the threaded boss 9 until a pin 13 on the plug 10 engages in a recess in the latch. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 the sliding latch 7 is in the form of a loop with a space 14 between its two ends, the latch being slidably carried by member 15 to which it can be locked as shown by turn-key 12, screwed plug 10 with pin 13 engaging a recess in the latch ; to insert or free the handlebar the device is unlocked and the latch moved to the left and the handlebar passed into or out of the space 8 through the gap 14. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the bracket 1 embraces the steering stem in space 2 and the handlebar is locked in space 8 which is enclosed by the latch 7 pivoted at 18 and locked by a retractable pin 13 controlled by the permutation lock 16. In a further modification the pivoted latch 7 of Fig. 3 may be pivoted at the right hand end and locked at its left hand end by the type of screw lock shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
